2018 was another busy year for town twinning.
The Bressuire twinning committee and members clearly go all
out to celebrate St Patrick’s day with great style and panache.
The highlight of 2018 was the visit of a football team from
along with Management and Coaches from St Mary’s GAA Club
in Leixlip and 7 musicians and dancers from Craobh Bheartla Ui
Flatharta , Councillor Joe Neville and Marian Lyons from Leixlip
twinning to Bressuire in May . The party spent the weekend
from 25th -28th May with host families.
The St Mary’s team did some workshops in the local Bressuire
schools on Saturday and Monday and played a very sporty
match against a French team on Sunday afternoon. The jury is
out as to who won the match.
This was the first time in our 22 years of town twinning that a
n Irish team played against a French team.
The musicians from Craobh Bheartla Ui Fhlatharta provided the
music on the Saturday night and also on the Sunday morning
during the 5k walk
Our visit also coincided with the annual film festival in Bressuire
and the Irish film that was featured was Brooklyn.
So overall a lovely combination of sport, culture and
entertainment!
